The team of “Zerkalo Central Asia” conducted interviews and focus groups as part of the World Bank study “Supporting Employment and Education for People with Disabilities in the Kyrgyz Republic.”

This study aimed to analyze the challenges and opportunities faced by people with disabilities in accessing the labor market and education in the Kyrgyz Republic. The report examines the current state of the country’s implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), which was recently ratified by the Kyrgyz Republic. It also identifies key barriers to inclusivity, including policy and legislative constraints, the enforcement of regulations, employer expectations and concerns, difficulties in accessing education and acquiring skills, challenges in workplace and educational environments, as well as social stigma.
